The Dead Sea is a salt lake at the edge of the Jordan river. It is ten times as salt as the ocean – so salty, in fact, that nothing lives or grows in it.
The Dead Sea is a salt lake at the edge of the Jordan river. It is ten times as salt as the ocean – so salty, in fact, that nothing lives or grows in it. It is the lowest place on earth – geographically, that is, since the Dead Sea is rich in historical and spiritual significance. It is said to had been a lush and blossoming place, just like the Garden of Eden, until God punished the nearby cities of Sodom and Gomorra for their sins. After that destruction, the place became barren and desolate, a testament to God’s power. Later, people have later dwelt in the surrounding caves, as recorded extensively at the time of King David, who is said to have hidden from Saul at nearby Ein Gedi. This unique, limited-edition painting depicts this remarkable lake, the Dead Sea, which Scripture foretells will come to life again when Jesus returns to rule the earth.
